I see Color!

Sure, color blocking was a sassy summer trend, but don't let it end now. Just because the weather is getting cooler doesn't mean you have to say bye to your bright color palette and hello to boring neutrals and dark tones. The great thing about color blocking is that you don't have to be so matchy-match. There's a concentration on popping colors out instead of just blending them in. It takes a certain risk-taking style to pull this trend off, but if done right you will stick out in all the right ways! Retailers are making sure you stay colored up. Check out these fun, platform boots by Jeffrey Campbell avaiable at Nordstrom(http://www.nordstroms.com/). There is much to choose from with his collection of booties from leopard to an American flag print. I want them ALL!

New Fashion line by Jennifer Lopez

With all the pending issues with Jennifer Lopez's divorce from Marc Anthony, it's nice to hear positive things about her. Jennifer Lopez has always been known for her trendsetting style. Remember the floppy beach hats? From 2003 to 2007, she had her JLO line that was exclusively for Juniors. Since then she's opened and closed her Sweetface line, but HOLD UP...She's back with a new line. Let's just hope this one stays around for a while. This fall, Kohl's will begin exclusively selling Jennifer Lopez's self-named line for women. This line seems to exude how fashionably she has progressed. I'm sure being a mommy has slowed her down to some degree. I like to call her new line "grown up chic". Take a peak at the collection due out next month.

P.S. Her soon-to-be ex-hubby has a line debuting at Kohl's too. Hmmm...

Glowing Bey

But Gaga's light was bright enough for one star...

and Baby! Beyonce reveals a surprising baby bump.
photo courtesy of Getty Images, MTV

On the Black carpet, Beyonce glowed in an orange Lanvin gown that seemed to mask something under it...until she cuffed her mid-section! And baby makes three! As one of Beyonce's biggest obessive fans, I was completely beaming with joy when I saw the news of her growing belly. The best moment of the night hands down has to be when, Beyonce's closing of her "Love on Top" perfomance for a big reveal. She drops her mic, opens her sequinned jacket and rubs her belly. What a diva (as we already didn't know)! Beyonce said she'd expand her family by 30 and after she drops what she proclaims a "classic" album. Did she have to spell it out for you?

Jo hearts GaGa

GaGa as Jo

Last night, MTV aired, live from Los Angeles, the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The nonstop buzz creating celebrity bees were in full sting. The Woman of the Show or shall I say "Man" of the show was none other than Lady Gaga herself. Apparently, Lady Gaga wanted the night off and decided to send her alter ego, Jo Calderone instead. Well, Beyonce's got Sasha Fierce! Completing her drag look was a greasy, Elvis-Travolta esque pompadour and prosthetic facial hair. She didn't just look the part either. She opened the show with a big spill of a monologue professing Jo's love for Gaga. This was actually the most 'normal' I've seen Lady Gaga. Maybe she should try drag more often.  Did you happen to catch her awkward moment with Britney Spears as she presented her with a tribute award?

The case of the girl that never had Jellies:

There were two things that I wasn't allowed to have growing up that really disturbed me as a child, because all the other kids in my neighborhood had them. 1. Koolaid. My mom never bought it. I'm sure that's the only reason why I never had caivities either, but I still wanted to drink it. The only way I would I get a taste of this drink is if I went to a freind's house. 2. Jelly Shoes. Do you remember the plastic sandals that all the little girls wore (circa mid 90's)? They came in a different colors and style. My mother couldn't stand them. She said they looked tacky, so again I went without. Well over the summer and spring seasons, Jellies as I they are affectionately called have made a big comeback. I saw a pair of Steve Madden jellies on clearance at TJ Maxx and thought "why not?". Take that, mom!

1+1=

HOT! So to be honest, I wasn't really excited to hear "1+1" as Beyonce's third single (although it came out before the second single). I think that is partly because, I couldn't help but feel like I've heard this same song from Bey in previous records. Nonetheless, I always anticipate any move Beyonce makes. She's genius and I never question her artistry as a whole. Let's face it..the girl knows what she's doing.

If you look closely, you can Bey's inked "IV"
E! premiered the official video for "1+1" last night. It actually threw me for a loop because it wasn't what I had in mind at all. The video starts with a greasy and shimmering Beyonce with lights being bounced off her skin. At that moment my thoughts are, "Really Bey? What is this?", but as the video progresses I can't help but look at amazement at how beautiful she was. She's giving us her, which is always a fight because we are always seeing her other dynamic, alter ego Sasha Fierce.  Of course she wore the leopard lingerie well and what looks like just a 'plain' sparkled camisole. The video focused less on the fashion and more on her revealing raw emotion and it's the most sexy I've seen her because of that.  The graphics reminded me of an 80' pop song and in my surprisement captured the essence of the song.

The camera got a close up of both her wedding rings. Both? Let's not forget the matching "IV" tattoos that her and Hip Hop's Jay-Z have on their left ring fingers. There also seems to be a glimpse of the $5 million wedding ring that she rarely dons. Hmmm...we already know who the song is written about, but if you need any other confirmation...

Watch out for a performance from Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday at 9/8c!

Here's a Mob, There's a Mob

I feel totally out of the loop as far as reality TV. And I have about 10 reality shows on the roster right now. Some wires must have been crossed, because I had no idea that FOX network picked up a show in March where real life people surprise their loved ones with the Flash Mobbing craze sweeping the world right now. In Mobbed, Host Howie Mandel gives people chances to make big announcements, apologies, etc. to others by a flash mob scene which is documenting from plan to finish. If you are still unfamiliar at what a Flash Mob is, Wikipedia breaks it down as:

"...a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place to perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, artistic expression or—in some cases—violence."

Maybe you've seen that video of a group of 100 ladies performing Beyonce's Single ladies routine in London or seen that seen of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis' recent summer flick, "Friends with Benefits". Flash mobs are such a novel idea yet they seem particularly intricate to organize. Mobbed show shouldn't be so surprising, but geesh, they will try to capitalize on everything!

Check this flash mob from about a month ago from Todrick Hall. Makes you want to have your own mob! :)

And the Reality Sagas continue...

Basketball Wives's executive producer and cast mate,Shaunie O'neal.

Shaunie looked like "a Rubik's cube". I can't help but agree!

I have admitted that I am a bit of a reality t.v. junkie. Last night's line for me up started with the part two reunion show of Basketball Wives, Tia and Tamera, the premieres of LaLa's Full Court Life and The T.O. Show. I haven't yet watched T.O.'s show because my brain was starting to corrode from all the celebrity drama, but the magic of DVR will be tested once again.

Last week, the so classy..(I can't even get that lie out of my mouth) women of VH1's Basketball Wives Reunion united to discuss the third tumultous chronicles of season. The ex -wife of newly retired NBA player, Shaqulle O'neal is the executive producer of the show. Ms. Shaunie O'neal is accompanied on the show with other Basketball Wives. It so happens none of the other six women are married, except for the newest cast member Meeka Claxton, wife of retired NBA baller, Speedy Claxton. The rival with her and fellow wife, Tami continued. Surprisingly, nothing was resovled except innovative ways to call each other b****es. Even more "surpisingly", O'neal had nothing to say as the women kept the drama alive trying to make good television by cackling at each other. The first part of the two hour reunion show was mediocre as the by passed certain issues that I wanted to know more about, such as. Suzie's non-closing blabbing mouth or the fact that no one learned anything about Shaunie. Everyone was too busy hoping on Royce, but she held her on. Kuddos to you, girl!

For more wholesome drama, I head to the Style Network's newest reality series from twin actresses, Tia and Tamera Mowry. I absolutely love it, as I previously stated in a past post. Their self-titled show, Tia and Tamera, premieres on Mondays 9/8c. The show documents the ladies going through two beautiful yet different moments in life. Tia is expecting her first child with husband of three years, actor Corey Hardrict. Meanwhile, Tamera is beaming with joy of her nuptials to Fox News correspondent, Adam Housley. The two are cute, affectionate sisters who really love each other despite their different takes on just about everything from style to priority checklists. It's hard to see age 33 on them because they are so innocent and purely sweet. It's horrible I think that, but look at the reality show standards that have been set before them.

So if you're a celeb looking for a major comeback, why not include a reality show in your marketing strategy? Hopping on that so popular train is LaLa Vasquez-Anthony. LaLa is newly wed to New York Knicks' player, Carmelo Anthony less than a year ago. LaLa's Full Court Life is a look at the chronicles of her professional and home life. The opening show is her contemplating the untimely trade of her husband and a visit of from her dear friend Kelly Rowland and cousin. Overall, I think the show will be a fav because LaLa is such a sweetie pie.

That wrapped up my reality sees for the night!

Remember the leopard I wanted, mommy?

Leopard Sperry's, $75.
The smile on my face when I bought them...priceless!
Why am I cursed with such a horrible yet stylistically (I think I just made up a word) addiction? I'm struggling with the two jobs that I have to keep up my constant need to buy everything beautiful in the world. So I'm in a department store for my second interview for a position as Sales Associate. Before you even ask why am I setting myself up for retail suicide, I need a job! What a great choice I must say, although it's like an alcoholic finding work in a liquor store! Getting back to the story: As I'm leaving my interview, I decide to go speak to my friend, Kenya who referred me the job in the Cosmetic department. I didn't find Kenya, but I found my new "pet". I didn't give a two-second thought before I was at the cash register (no try-on needed) whipping out my debit card to my shrinking bank account. I told you guys I was getting spots this season. PFA (Public Fashion Announcement)Ladies: There are many "pets" out there looking for a new closet--I mean "home". Animal prints are definitely a must this fall.

Next on the list: These Vince Camuto's exclusively at Dillards. Don't blame me. Blame Glamour Magazine for even putting them in my eyesight!

Vince Camuto "Baileys" platform boots in leopard print calf hair, $139.
I've got to have 'em!

Double Dose of Reality

Tamera(left) and Tia (right) have a new reality show. Cute look, ladies!
photo courtsey of essence.com

Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry- Housley may look alike, being that they are identical twins, but these two have completely different style--and personalities. This is evident in their first episode of their new reality show on the style network about their journeys of marriage (Housley) and motherhood (Hardrict). Sometimes they're journeys collide, but through all the beautiful tears these sisters truly have an unspoken bond. As a reality junkie, it's nice to see a reality show undriven by the fight for the camera and tumultuous drama. Tune in on Mondays on Style Network 9/8c!

Demi's "skyscraping" back on top

Demi Lovato makes standing like a skyscraper look absolutely beautiful in her new video to her first single off her her third album "Skyscraper" which happens to be the name of the first hit. I didn't hear this sound until a few days ago. I've played it every morning since. Her voice gives me chills. What made the video so beautiful is that it was so simple and effortless. She looked just breathtaking performing in an open desert in a simple white, flowy gown I could tell that she put her heart to every lyric. With what she has been going through since last year has proved that she is proved her strength as well as her weakness.

Toward the end of 2010, Demi abruptly left a tour with the Jonas Brother because of physical and emotional issues and checked into rehab for a three-month long treatment. She's had a history with bulimia and cutting since before her Disney days. There was only time keeping this dark secret from the light. To be ridiculed and a prisoner and your own body is tough for anyone to go through. Hollywood will have you thinking that the life of a "glamorous" celebrity is just that, but it's easy to look in  from the outside. With self-destructing continuously being the demise of young Hollywood, such as the death of soul songstress, Amy Winehouse last month, I'm glad Demi's back stronger than ever. Go cop Demi's "Skycraper" on September 20!

Watch Demi's new vid and get the same inspiration I got.

"You can take everything I have. You can break everything I am...Go on and try to tear me down, I will be rising from the ground."

It was really sad because she seemed to be this fashionable, nice lady yet she said that shopping was really difficult for her. She asked me if I would be interested in becoming her personal shopper! Nailed it!

Jersylicious is a guilty pleasure of mind. I have no idea why I love watching these Jersey people. It's like we live in two different countries. Although I seriously feel like I need to bathe from looking at all the tan, caked up make-up, and hair products, I find myself envying their style. If you're not up to part of the cast, Gayle is the hot over forty hair salon owner to the posh Jersey Salon, The Gatsby. She's got a crazy, cackling group of employees that are always fighting, bending the rules, and  trying to out do each other all while looking Jersey glammed.

"Jersey Glam"- one who possesses at least three of the following attributes: Overly tanned;big stiff over processed hair ;bedazzled with rhinestones from head to toe; boob overkill;Jersey accent, of course; and don't forget the the acrylics, which brings me to the subject of Traci, a lead hair stylist at the Gatsby, has these weird looking contraptions of her nails. They call them "an acrylic nails". Whatever they are they look dangerous and difficult to wear, but that's no problem for Traci. She's been donning them since she was 16.

Catch The Gatsby Gang on the Style Network's Jerseylicious on Sundays 8/7c! You may become an addict like moi!

In other important Nail News...

Have you taken notice to the "stilleto nails" princess RiRi, Queen Bey, and Fergie Ferg havebeen upstaging us with? Where do they even come up with this stuff? I think I'll try this before the "fan".
