Airport Chic!

Bey always knows how to rock first class looks.

I get so envious of looking through People of celebs looking like pure perfection as they photographed out traveling. For one, I wish I could be "Anywhere, but Here" sometimes. Have you seen that movie with Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon? I digress. And two, I always look like the epitome of a hot mess when I travel. Let's stop looking a hot mess and get some celebrity inspiration while we're ripping the runway! The holidays are here, so get airport chic, E-CHICks.

XO Britt

Stil- or Sneak-?
What do you think? I would say the most comfortable choice would be the obvious sneaker, but who needs comfort when you've got style?!  If you must compromise, try a chic riding boot.

Layers of love.

Are you going to a location with a drastic weather shift? Last spring break I was freezing on the way back from the airport in Bermuda shorts and sandals on the way back from Puerto Vallarta. Layers keep you prepared for anything.

Oversize me.

Skip the small digs. Go big with a cute carry-all to fit all your divine, diva travel musts! Just try to keep all your important travel documents in a place of their own.

Just in case...

Keep a change of clothes in your carry all. Who is not to say there will be unexpected, lengthy layovers or accidents on your venture. You don't want to be stuck in the airport with juice soaking in your blouse like a five-year-old.

Superstar Status

No celebrity-inspired airport ensemble would be complete without some Hollywood "No photos, please" sunglasses. This can prevent others from seeing the sleep in your eyes from that four hour flight.

I can't wait to travel in style on my next rendezvous with Little Rock Adams Field Airport. Next vacay: Spring Break. Viva La Mexico! Can it come any faster !

Forever Lazy, Forever Crazy

As Seen On TV
Forever Lazy

So these "As seen on TV" products have managed to make even more ridiculous products. I was so on Team Snuggie a couple of years ago and I still even use mine from time to time, but these recent "must-haves" have fallen on the weirdo track. If you managed to escape the zany commercials of goofy-faced people 'raising the roof' wearing assorted colors of the personal sleeved blanket sensation than you must have not owned a television. So the Forever Lazy, which is jumper fulfilling all of your blanket needs, has the same general concept as the Snuggie, but it tops it in the "WTH" factor. What's the funniest part of these commercials is the usage for it. You can wear your Forever Lazy at home watching tv, studying, or even tailgating! Tailgating? I just about died from laughing watching grown folks wearing cozy jumpsuits  drinking in the out of doors at a game. The craziest part about the Forever Lazy? It has a back flap for making trips to the  restroom easier. I can't believe they are even serious with this one!

Watch the ridiculous commercial HERE.

Will a Forever Lazy be on your Christmas list this year?

Smiles and Kisses

A million Smiles doesn't compare to that Big Kiss"
photo by Little Miss Famous Photography
.
A lot of my clothing make me look much younger that I truly am (I'll be 23 on the 23rd!). What can I say? I'm a kid at heart.  I still like rocking Chuck Taylor's with my legging jeans and even throwing up messing ponytails. I'll be 23 next week, but my fashion style sometimes likes to linger in the kiddie poIe. I dressed this graphic screen tee with a Blazer for a more grown up appeal. Believe it or not it's a JOE Boxer sleepwear shirt, but my eyes couldn't tell between nightshirt or Night Shirt! Clearance rack at $4. It still amazes me how cheap I can score my clothes. So get those silly tees and band t-shirts out that bottom drawer and start dressing them up a bit. Right pair of jeans and stiletto heel will surely do the trick.

Where to shop for the best band shirts?

http://www.hottopic.com/ or the nearest store.

Get your swap on!

Quick snap shot while setting up the Compassion
Fashion Project' s  "Your friend's closet" clothing swap
event. Fashion for a cause--Love it!

The Compassion Fashion Project hosted a clothing swap benefitting the Women and Children First shelter last week. It was a great party for a great cause. And you too can do it!
Want to host your own clothing swap? It's a wonderful excuse to hang out with your friends with some food, fashion, and fun sipping!

1. My space, your space.

Your home or a close friend's makes fun an ideal, intimate space for hosting your little soiree. make sure there is room for you and your girls to stretch your legs while getting your fashionista on--and eat on if you're like my friends and I.

2. Who's Invited?

Make a list of close friends, family, and co-workers that you think would come. Try to keep a variation in style, age, and size for a more diverse gathering. Send your invites via Facebook or some other social networking site for an easy click.

3. Take a cue from CFP!

Join in the efforts to save the world--or at least your community-in stilletos. Ask guests to bring a $5.00 admission in to the clothing swap to  give to a chose charity or organization.

4. Organization is key.

Use a large table or clothing rack to separate clothing items in categories. Be sure to include a full-length mirror for a nice touch to your little consignment shop!

5. Don't forget to eat--

Girls Night In wouldn't be complete without some delicious appetizers and...wine! You don't have to go all out and cater. For a more economical touch, tell everyone it's a potluck!

6. Keep a tracking system.

Make sure no one leaves with more items than they come out with. i like how the Compassion Fashion Project's number system. They assigned numbers  based on vintage/designer appeal, pants/shirts, dresses, etc. Try to come up with your own rules based on the number of people who show up. Chances your friends will be fair and not fight over items...hopefully.

7. GO SWAP!

Your Friend's Closet-- Clothing Swap!

Cute monogrammed shopping bag
that was made available
to excited swappers.
I had the honor of assisting Meredith Corning, Director and founder of The Compassion Fashion Project, and her bubbly staff during their clothing swapping event. The organization has bloomed from a blog to a pillar in the community. They really commit to their mantra: Saving the world in stilettos! The event, which was held last Thursday at Bar Louie in the Pleasant Ridge Shopping Center, benefited the Women and Children First shelter in Little Rock, AR. Several hundred dollars and over $1,100 was raised during the two-hour soiree.  Future Goals for the CFP: going global, baby!

Mini Me

Twist of Line Rust Red Skirt
$25
Shop Here
P.S. Don't you just love
the Jeffrey Campbell bootie.
Ahh ©

Of course summer has came to a close, but don't be quick to throw those minis to the attic just yet. "Fall" them up a bit. Add texture with some rich hues, tights, leggings, and boots. Add a cardigan to age up  those minis.  When I think of the mini skirt, I think of two different types of connotations. 1. Daring and skanky 2. Daring and sassy. Aiming for sassy is always my agenda. Lulus.com (www.lulus.com) is showing you how to stretch those barely there skirts until you can't no more--which is a long time if you play your cards right.

Matching is passe...

Our E-CHICk, Larnie modeling her own clothing. Don't
you just love her print collaborations?!
photo by Little Miss Famous Photography
So my all-time least favorited questions to hear from those resolving their style challenges is, "Does this match?". I can't tell you how much this simple yet naive question gets under my skin. I am a person that refuses to have to sterotypically match my style choices. Who am I matching for? I like to throw on things that make me feel good. I put as much effort into matching my clothes as I do ironing. And I haven't used an iron in ages. I'm not trying to be tiptoe around with my color palettes and prints just so someone else's eye can feel more at ease. Why not be bold? State your claim today just for a day, E-CHICKS: "I [insert name] will not overly extend myself to "match" my clothing. I know that this is a bold claim to make and some of you wouldn't dare, but what are you losing?

Small is the new BIG

Havana Crossbody Bag-Gray
$48
Nastygal.com

Chelsea Bucket Bag-Tan
$58
Nastygal.com

Havana Crossbody Bag-Mint
$48
Nastygal.com
I'm the biggest fan of the carry-all bag that's big enough to stuff your kitchen sink, but I've discovered a new love: the shoulder bag. They are small, but still big enough to squeeze in the necessities. You may have to evaluate the importance of each item in your current purse, but you'll see that it's all worth it. No more switching arms tugging around that suitcase of a bag. No strap slips so shopping around town becomes a lot easier. Did you check my favorite shoulder bags from NastyGal.com? Love them. Happy Shopping!
